汚れた霊のたとえ話

The Parable of the Unclean Spirits

ある日Keavinに母親から電話がありまして、不思議なことを聞かされました。屋根裏部屋から階段を下りようとしたときに、ふと後ろを振り返ると、廊下の端のほうで誰かが立っているのを見たのです。彼女は驚いて「びっくりした」と言いました。すると、その人物は急にパッと消えてしまいました。また彼女は何年も屋根裏部屋から不思議な音が聞こえてきました。階段を上がると、ぞっとして全身に鳥肌が立つのです。

One day Kevin got a call from his mother and was told something very strange.  She said that when she climbed down the stairs, she turned around and saw someone standing at the end of the hallway.  She was startled and said, “Oh, you scared me!”  Then the figure suddenly disappeared.  And she also said that for several years she had been hearing strange noises in the attic.  Fear often caused goose bumps on her skin when she climbed the stairs. 

Kevinは母親が話してくれたことをしばらく考えていました。どうしてそんなことがあるのだろうか。彼は聖書に詳しい何人かの人とそのことについて相談してみました。友人はKeavinにこう言いました。「君の家にもしかしたらロックンロールのレコードかテープはないですか。もしかしたら、それが原因で悪霊がそこにいるのかもしれないです。」

Kevin was thinking over what she had said.  He wondered why that would have happen.  Then he shared the story with several people who had studied the Bible.  They said to Kevin, “Don’t you have any old rock-and-roll records or tapes in the house?  If so, that would give evil spirits the right to be on the premises.” 

Kevinはよく考えてみると、数年前に両親のもとから離れて新しい場所に引越しをするときに、ロックに関係するレコードアルバムやポスターを家に置いていったのを思い出しました。そこで彼は実家に戻ってきて、屋根裏部屋を調べてみました。懐中電灯で辺りを見回すと、確かにそこにロックミュージックのテープやアルバム、ポスターなど、彼が十代の頃にアイドルのように大事にしていたものがまとめて置いてありました。更にベールで顔が隠された神秘的な女性の絵がついた占い板も見つけました。彼は気持ち悪くなってみんな屋根裏部屋から出してゴミに捨ててしまいました。

Kevin thought about what they said, and remembered that when he moved from his parents’ home several years ago, he had let behind several albums and posters dealing with the rock culture.  Then he went home and investigated the attic.  As he looked around with a flashlight, he found the boxes of the tapes, albums, and picture posters of his teenage idols.  Furthermore he saw the mysterious, veil-faced woman of the Ouija board.  He felt very uncomfortable and decided to get those things out of the attic and put them in a garbage bag. 

悪魔は実在します。人間の作り事ではありません。聖書は悪魔、或いは悪霊が確かにこの世に存在していると教えています。マタイ12:43-45をお開きください。ここにはイエスが語られた8つの汚れた霊のたとえ話が書かれています。

The devil is real.  He is not a figment of man’s imagination.  The Bible says that the devil and evil spirits are in this world.  Let’s open Matthew 12:43-45.  Here you see the parable of the eight unclean spirits which Jesus spoke. 

マタイ12:43 汚れた霊が人から出ると、休み場を求めて水の無い所を歩きまわるが、見つからない。

12:44 そこで、出てきた元の家に帰ろうと言って帰って見ると、その家はあいていて、そうじがしてある上、飾りつけがしてあった。

12:45 そこでまた出て行って、自分以上に悪い他の七つの霊を一緒に引き連れてきて中にはいり、そこに住み込む。そうすると、その人ののちの状態は初めよりももっと悪くなるのである。よこしまな今の時代も、このようになるであろう」。

Matt12:43 "When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none.

12:44 "Then he says, 'I will return to my house from which I came.' And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order.

12:45 "Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation."

ある人に汚れた霊が宿っていました。ところが霊はその人から出て行きます。何のためなのか、そのことには触れていません。神の力の圧力に負けて出て行ったとも書かれていません。何の衝突も話には記録されていません。おそらく自分の意志で出て行ったのでしょう。

An unclean spirit lived in a man.  But the spirit went out of the man.  It is not said why he did.  It is not said he left under pressure from the divine power.  No conflict is indicated in the parable.   Probably he left by his own choice.

霊は休み場を求めて水の無い所を歩き回ります。しかし休めるところは見つかりませんでした。水の無い所とはどのようなところでしょうか。その答えの鍵になる聖句は黙示録17:15の預言の言葉です。ここには水は「あらゆる民族、群衆、国民、国語」を表すとなっています。となれば、水の無い所とは人のいないところです。霊は人が寄り付かないようなところをグルグルと回りますが、どこへ行っても落ち着く所はありません。

The spirit went out seeking rest in dry places.  But he could not find the rest.  What are these dry places?   The main clue is found in the prophecy in Revelation 17:15.  It says that the water represents “peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues.”  If so, the desolate, dry place would mean the absence of people.  The spirit was wondering around the desert where there were no people, and could not find rest at all. 

そこで霊は元の家に帰って来ます。元の家とは先ほどの人の心の中です。驚いたことに、家には鍵がかかっていません。まったく無防備です。何の抵抗もありません。しかも家の中には誰もいませんでした。きれいに掃除されていました。それだけでなく飾り付けもしてありました。前よりももっと住み心地がよくなっていました。あたかも「またいつでも帰ってきてください」と招いているかのようです。

Then the spirit came back to the previous house he left.  It was inside the man.  Surprisingly he found the house was not locked.  No protection.  No resistance.  Empty.  Swept.  Garnished.  It looked very comfortable to live.  It seemed to give a sign of welcoming him back. 

わたしは現在のコンドミニュームに引越しする前に、柴田さんに連れられて売りに出しているいろいろなお家を見て回ったことがあります。きれいなお家もあれば、汚いお家もありました。玄関のドアに取っ手がついていない家がありました。中に入ると、あちらこちらに黒いゴミ袋が散乱していました。水が腐ったような嫌なにおいのするお家もありました。そんな家にはどうしても住みたいという思いがしませんでした。やはり「住んでみたいなぁ」と思うのは、きれいに掃除されて、きちんと管理されているところです。

Before I moved to our condominium, Mrs Shibata took me to look around different houses on sale.  Some houses looked beautiful, others dirty.  One house did not have a knob on the entrance door.  Having entered inside, we found many black garbage bags left here and there.  In the other house I smelled something like rotten water.  I did not feel like living in any of them.  I prefer to live in a clean and well kept house. 

先ほどの汚れた霊はきれいになったお家を見ると、もう一度外に出て行きます。たくさんの悪い友達を連れてきます。何人でしょうか。7人です。彼らは自分以上にもっと悪い霊でした。そしてこの8人がその家に住み着きました。すると家の中は初めよりももっと悪くなってしまいました。

So the unclean spirit found the former house swept and in order, and went out again.  This time he got his evil friends to join him.  How many?  Seven!  The evil spirits were more wicked than himself.  And all these eight spirits entered the house and dwelt there.  And the house inside became worse off than before. 

皆さんのお家がこんな状態になったらどうですか。悪い人たちが勝手に入り込んで、住み着いて、家をみちゃくちゃにしてもかまいませんか。自分が部屋を汚すのであれば、一向に気にしない人たちも中におられるかもしれませんが、他人が汚すとなれば、おそらく誰でも面白くないと思います。ましてや皆さんの心の中に、悪い霊が勝手に入り込んで、皆さんの人生をめちゃくちゃにするとなれば、本当に面白くないでしょう。イエスは悪霊がそういったことを人々の心の中で今やっているのだと言っています。

What would you do if your house were put into disorder?  Wouldn’t you care if evil people came into your house as they liked and lived there and messed up everything?  Some of you wouldn’t mind if you got your house dirty.  But if some strangers got the house dirty and filthy, you wouldn’t like it at all.  And if the evil spirits entered your hearts without permission, lived there and messed up your life, you wouldn’t be happy at all.  Jesus is saying these evil spirits are doing such wicked things in human hearts. 

イエスはこのたとえ話から2つのことを教えているように思います。第1に、汚れた霊は人の中に休み場を見出そうとしているということです。彼はあちらこちらを歩き回りましたが、結局元の場所に戻って着ました。どうしてですか。どこへ行っても人がいないからです。人のいないところでは落ち着かないのです。人の心の中が一番居心地いいのです。

There are two lessons that we can from this parable of Jesus.  First, the unclean spirit is looking for rest in human hearts.  He looked around here and there, but finally came back to the former place. Why?  Because wherever he went, he could not find any people.  He found no rest in the dry place which had no people.  The most comfortable place for the evil spirits is human mind. 

キリストがご再臨されると、この地上は荒野のような状態になります。救われる人たちは天に引き上げられ、救われない人たちは地に眠ります。サタンと悪天使たちはこの地上に閉じ込められます。何年間でしょうか。それは千年間です。この長い期間、彼らは誰も誘惑することができません。何も破壊することもできません。何の仕事もないのです。どこにも休み場がありません。ただ荒れ果てた地上で罪がもたらしたものを見るだけです。

When Christ comes again, this earth will change like a desert.  Those who are saved will be sent to heaven, while those who are not saved will sleep in death.  Satan and evil angels will be confined to the earth.  How long?  It will be one thousand years.  During this period they are not allowed to tempt anybody.  They are allowed to destroy anything.  They are unemployed.  They have no rest.  They just watch the results of their rebellion in the desolate earth. 

これはおそらくサタンや悪天使たちにとっては非常に厳しい処罰になるでしょう。生きがいのない人生を千年間も過ごすのです。本当に寂しい休暇になるでしょう。頭がおかしくなるほどに寂しい期間だと思います。しかし、このときに彼らが自分のやってきたことを反省するのです。そのために神はこの千年期を設けられるのです。

This will be the severest punishment for Satan and the evil angels.  They will live an empty life in the millennium. That will be a very deserted vacation for them.  It will be so lonely that they may feel they are out of mind.  But then they will contemplate the part which he has acted before.  For their reflection God has prepared the millennium. 

「千年の間、サタンは荒れ果てた地上をさ迷い歩いて、自分が神の律法に反逆した結果を眺める。この間のサタンの苦しみは非常なものである。サタンは堕落して以来絶えず働き続けて、反省する暇がなかった。ところが今は、力を奪われて、最初に天の政府に反逆して以来、自分がどんなことをしてきたかを熟考させられる。そして彼は、恐ろしい将来を思って震えおののく。その時には彼は、自分が行ったすべての悪のために苦しまねばならず、また、自分が他の者に犯させた罪に対して罰を受けねばならないのである。」

For a thousand years, Satan will wander to and fro in the desolate earth to behold the results of his rebellion against the law of God.  During this time his sufferings are intense.  Since his fall his life of unceasing activity has banished reflection; but he is now deprived of his power and left to contemplate the part which he has acted since first he rebelled against the government of heaven, and to look forward with trembling and terror to the dreadful future when he must suffer for all the evil that he has done and be punished for the sins that he has cause to be committed.

さて、このたとえから学ぶことができるもう一つの教訓は、悪い霊はわたしたちの心の中が空き家の状態のときに入ってくるということです。どんなに心の中をきれいに掃除しても十分ではありません。外面を飾ってもだめです。悪を追い出すことはできません。悪い霊は中に入ってきます。心はイエスにテナントとして住んでいただかなくてはならないのです。もしそうすれば、悪い霊がやって来ても、イエスが霊を追い出してくださいます。

Now, the other lesson that we can learn from the parable of Jesus is the evil spirit can enter our heart when it is empty.  Your work to clean your heart is not enough.  Your work to garnish your heart is not enough.  You can never stamp out evil.  The evil spirit will come inside.  The heart must be occupied by its rightful tenant Jesus.  Then if the evil spirit came, Jesus would crowd him out.

Whenever men reject the Saviour’s invitation, they are yielding themselves to Satan.

The Desire of Ages, p341

大事なことはイエスを心に招待することです。悪を憎むだけでは十分ではありません。悪いことをしないだけでは十分ではありません。また良い行いだけでも十分ではありません。毎日イエスを心の中に招待しなくてはならないのです。そうでなければサタンに放棄していることになるのです。

We should know how important it is to invite Jesus into our heart.  It is not enough to hate evil.  It is not enough not to do evil.  It is not enough to do good work.  We should invite Jesus to our heart everyday.  Otherwise we will be yielding ourselves to Satan.

黙示録3:20 見よ、わたしは戸の外に立って、たたいている。だれでもわたしの声を聞いて戸をあけるなら、わたしはその中にはいって彼と食を共にし、彼もまたわたしと食を共にするであろう。

Revelation3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

イエスはわたしたちの心の戸を毎日たたいておられます。心の戸を開けるならば、イエスは中に入ってくださいます。開けなければ、イエスは中に入られません。中に入っていただけなければ、招待をしていない別の客が代わりに中に入ることになります。皆さんはイエスをあえて心の扉の外に立たせておかれますか。それとも中に招待されますか。イエスはいつも戸をたたき続けておられます。その忍耐力と不屈の精神をわたしたちはもう一度考えてみることにいたしましょう。

Jesus is knocking at the door of our heart.  If we open it to Him, He will enter.  If not, He will not.  If He does not enter the heart, another guest whom we don’t invite will come inside instead.  Do you intentionally keep His presence and power on the other side of the door?  Or are you willing to open your heart to Him and let Him in?  Jesus is continually knocking at the door to get through to us.  Let us think over how patient He is and how persistent He is to get through to the bottom of our heart. 

ヨハネ19:38-42にはアリマタヤのヨセフとニコデモのことが記録されています。このヨセフは非常に身分の高い議員であり、指導者した（マルコ15:43）。ニコデモも議員でしたが、彼はイエスとこっそりと夜に会ったことがありました。しかし、両者ともイエスの最期が来るまでメシアとして認めようとしませんでした。彼らは議員という立場からイエスに対する信仰を隠していました。しかし神は決してあきらめませんでした。彼らの心に働き続けました。ついにイエスが亡くなられたとき、ヨセフは神に向かって心を開き、ピラトのところに赴き、イエスを十字架から下ろす許可を願い出ました。そしてそれが許可されると、ニコデモも心を開き、彼とともにイエスを十字架から下ろして、そのお身体を埋葬の習慣に従って丁重に葬りました。

There is a record of Joseph of Aremathea and Nicodemus in John 19:38-42.  This Joseph was a leader and honoured member of the Jewish high council.  Nicodemus was also the member of the Jewish high council and had secretly come to Jesus by night.  But both of them did not identify Jesus with the Messiah until the very end.  Because of their status, they hid their faith in Jesus.  But God did not give up.  He kept working upon them.  As Jesus died on the cross, Joseph finally opened his heart to step out of hiding and asked Pilate for permission to take down Jesus’ body from the cross.  When the permission was given to him, Nicodemus also opened his heart, and both of them took the body down and buried him according the Jewish burial custom with respect. 

わたしたちもこのアリマタヤのヨセフやニコデモのように、心を開いて一歩前に進み、イエスからの招待を受け入れるようにいたしましょう。みなさんの心がいつまでも神のご臨在されるところとして豊かに祝福されますことを祈ります。

So let us open our heart, step forward, and accept the invitation of Jesus.  It is my prayer that your heart be blessed and be the temple of God for ever.   

詩篇23:6 わたしの生きているかぎりは／必ず恵みといつくしみとが伴うでしょう。わたしはとこしえに主の宮に住むでしょう。

Psalm23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.
